Our privacy policy & what happens when you contact us
PRIVACY & POLICY (the almost fun stuff)
1. What ever you send us, EVERYTHING is confidential. We will never use or pass on your name or details without explicit permission from you first in accordance with the 1998 Data Protection Act- you will also have the right to request to see all information we retain about you.
2. The only people who can know personal details that you might have sent us, such as your full name, are the official admins of the group. The questions you ask us, the experiences you share and things you tell us may be discussed with in the group and members of the group either in person or in the context of a video. This is in order to provide useful case studies and share experiences that may help others both deal with their problems and help members learn how to help others with similar problems. However, we will always ask your permission to discuss you cases in our videos and will NEVER include personal information or specific information that could identify you you would not like to be identified.
3. Any information you send us via email is keep safe in case it is need for reference by the group admins- any personal information about you (e.g. the school you go to) will be deleted after one year, or until it is no longer relevant. It will not be shared with anyone but the admins.
4. If we are concerned about your health or safety we may send you the contact information or relevant information from external agencies and groups. We cannot be accountable for any problems you may encounter with any such external body, but we will do our best to make sure that they are relevant and trusted.
5. We will try to reply to all messages, whether on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Youtube or via e-mail, on the same day you send it as we know delivering support speedily can be vital. However, we cannot always promise this and if we have not replied to a message in one week please contact us again, preferably via a different channel (i.e. if you messaged us on Tumblr first, it might be advisable to email us if we do not reply).
6. The point of this group is that young LGBTQ people can talk to and seek help/ advice from other young LGBTQ people who understand. While some members of the group have experience of working with young people and some forms of training to an extent, we are NOT trained professionals of any kind. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for any consequences that come as a result of our advice unless it is proven that we have done something unlawful (which we have no intention of doing). We are also aware that we won't stay young forever, but even then we will still use our past experiences to help young people and hopefully there will still be young people on the team.
